Hi everyone,
I'm kind of undecided at the moment on upgrading my dust collection system and an hoping you might chime in and help me make a decision.
My shop is in my basement, and except for my table saw and miter saw everything is on casters, and is rolled out to be used. My current dust collector is a delta 50-850, upgraded with a wynn cannister on the top and plastic bag on the bottom. It has two 4" outlets, one hooked to my table saw with flex hose ( less than 10 ft.) and the other outlet hooked to whatever tool I'm using. It works well except when I use my drum sander. The wynn filter clogs rather easily and degrades the suction. At least once a month I have to haul everything out side and hit it with a leaf blower to clean it out. Not much fun in Maine in the winter.
So I started looking at two stage collectors with the idea they look to run longer with out clogging and they are easier to maintain. With jet having 15% off and free shipping their cyclones look pretty good.
My main uncertainly right now is which unit to get. My basement is only wired for 110v but I have thought about putting a couple of 220 outlets in. So I can buy the 1.5 hp. 110v unit and plug and play, or get 220 in my basement for $300 ( electrician quote ) And get the 2hp 220v collector for around $ 340 more than the 1.5 hp. unit.
So I guess my questions are. Is it worth the extra money for 1/2 hp. more ( along with more cfm). Anybody have one of these jet units, and if so Do you like it? Am I missing anything else I should be thinking about in this decision?
Thanks
Jim
