For me woodworking is a great hobby. Unlike work I do what I want how I want and when I want. (laughing) Most of my projects are things I need around the house and are done with care and planning to insure they last a lifetime. The woodshop where the magic happens is small, one can never have too big of a shop, but I use my imagination to constantly come up with creative ideas for storage and functional stations to work. For the shop I take a zero dollar approach and spend little if any money, with the "junk" that is throw away everyday and scrap wood people give me for free I have more than enough to use with some imagination and time.

I make pens and small projects to pay for my hobby, in todays times one has to be creative with ways to fund one's woodworking addiction. On a rare occassion I do larger projects but my Father taught me a valueable lesson as a child. If you are always working on things for someone else when are you spending time with the children? So I learned to say "NO" alot and with conviction to put down the many request for work not play for someone else. Hobbies should be enjoyed, not a burden.

Having served in the United States Marine Corps and gone to Iraq I know well the price of freedom and that life should be enjoyed as we live in a Great Nation of Freedom unlike any other the world over.

Hi Woodbutcherbynight

You figured it out! The color coded drawers is a theme I started with my workbench, which I plan on showing soon, and it works great for both getting tools and for returning them.

Saves a great deal of time overall and yes it has helped many times when I needed someone to retrieve a tool.

It also makes for a good conversation topic.

Thanks for your comments.

Oakhill,

The coloring of the drawer fronts is a great idea heck I may even bother to paint the faces of my drawers on a 8ft long cabinet I have had for years to add spice, color, and as my wife might comment FASHION, to the mix. (laughing)
