very nice… and very practical. Nicely done wood combinations. I assume there is a lip on the underside of the lid to fit in the remaining top recess?

finger joints are very attractive on this size box.

Thanks guys, I’m looking forward to being in the LJ community!

There is a shallow (1/8”) rebate around the periphery of the lid which thins its profile and registers it with the sides. Like others I typically use dovetails for oblong rectangular boxes. On a square box, though, box joints just felt more appropriate.

Beautiful design, simple and elegant. Several other things I like about this box. It wouldn’t take up a lot of space on a crowded ladies vanity. The stacking trays provide a lot of storage and also allow organizing the jewelry better, the curved tray dividers, the small accents, contrasting wood colors and very small nicely cut dovetails give it a quality appearance and the ability for it to last a long long time.

Welcome to LJ Béla, I hope you enjoy yourself here!

Great looking box. I like the idea of the three tears for the earings and the angles of the dividers.
