After making this pattern, I showed it to a few people and really got a good response so I decided to make it. I wanted to make it with a lot of depth and the front wing has about 3/4 of in spacers behind it. The background was a challenge to make with the different wood colors and grain direction for the fields below the plane. I did use a little dark water color paint behind the guns in the wings and on the gas tank spouts to add some detail. It is 24 inches wide and 18 inches tall and has 147 pieces.
Woods used were: walnut, ebony, wedge, pine, yellow heart, poplar, blood wood, aspen, cortez, mahogany, curly maple, purple heart, oak, cocobola, babinga, koi, cherry, teak, cypress, and palm. No stains were used to create color and is finished in satin.
Thanks for looking,
