Try to use bulbs with a 6100 or higher “Kelvin” rating. they are much better as the light it brighter, with a hint of blue in it. they are no higher in cost that other ratings (given the same type bulb). I have an unheated 48X60 Shop that I’m changing over to ‘zero temp’ florescent fixtures, and the 6100 bulbs. one fixture now throws as much light as 3 used to! I replaced 1 500W Halogen fixture with 5 CFL’s (@23 watts each) now seeing the equal of 500 W for the operating cost of 115W, and the lights are spread out to illuminate a 24X48 area.
