Man oh man did I get blessed!!! A friend of a friend who had a friend that was a woodworker passed and his friend inherited everything he owned. She took care of all his finances after his mother died so he wouldn’t squander all his inheritance, and he did some work for her, he was only in his 50s. She and her husband were selling off all his stuff including the house, they are an older couple and really didn’t need the money but just wanted to get rid of stuff quick. My friend went to her house and they had some wood working stuff, pen blanks, old scroll saws, various tools, not much I really wanted except something they had covered in a sheet, Epilog Laser Engraver. Whoo! She said it would go cheap, so next day I made her a cheap offer. She told me he paid $15,000. four years ago and had put it on craigs list, and will be having a garage sale the next week, but she wouldn’t give me a price. Me and my wife kept going over there buying old albums and some small tables, still no price. found used one’s online for 5 to 7 grand. She told me to come back when she has the g-sale. Went there friday to help her identify some old tools and sort stuff out. She told me it was mine if I come back sat, still no price. I couldn’t imagine what she wanted for it but I had some friends that might be interested also, she told me I didn’t want to let some one else have it. Went Sat, told me what she wanted, $1,000. I fell over and wrote her a check. She said some one offered her twice that but she said she wanted me to have it. She said her friend would be happier if some one else passionate about wood working had the machine. Thank you Lord!!!
This thing is AWESOME!!! Engraves everything, wood, plastic, metal, glasses, cuts wood. very detailed. My wife is hyped about starting a business. Have to learn some design programs, have my son and me signed up for a quick class. Early retirement here I come!!!

OH BOY!!! I get to be the first to say, “YOU SUCK”. There has to be at least a 30 inch vacuum in Rockwall, Texas.
This could not have happened to a greater guy! I hope your plans bear fruit very soon. Rand

Thanks! I do SUCK, bad! PO is starting to offer early retirements now to management, they should offer something for the rest of us this year. Hopefully this will offer an opportunity into something more rewarding. Would rather have happiness and joy than money, but both would be nice…

Oh, man…you TOTALLY SUCK! I have been looking at one of those for years..I tried to get the owner of the cabinet shop I worked at to buy one. A grand is a ridiculous price for one, even an older used one. They are pretty easy to use once you get educated on the basics. You pretty much hook it up to your PC like a printer and send jobs to it! I have watched a bunch of YOutube vids of theses things making stuff..not just out of wood, but metal, glass, plastic..and not just flat engraving, some pretty intense 3D stuff. Good luck, and I HATE YOU…

With that kind of luck, you should go buy a lotto ticket, wait, nevermind you already hit the jackpot with this one! congraturlations, I cant wait to see what you do with it.
Also, isnt it nice to see someone choosing to thank a friend, and be kind rather than make the extra money. From your story, it doesnt sound like she was even a close friend before this, but she really went out of her way for you, not only giving you first right, but asking half the price she was offered. This is how people should behave, unfortunately it does not seem very common. I hope you will be making her a special project with this laser.

I told her I would continue the tradition of making her a Christmas ornament every year just like he did. I went there the next day and helped them clean up, and haul everything out of the house. They sold the house to the neighbor that same day, I imagine for a great deal. She is a cancer survivor and really got a new outlook on life after that, she is really encouraging on following your dreams and I hope to do so, but have to keep my head grounded to take care of my responsibilities also. Training in the morning.
