Got an email from Peachtree about clamp clearance a few months ago, been trying to build up my parallel clamp collection so I couldn’t pass it up. I liked these clamps because they have the clutch plate to prevent the head from sliding down the bar when you turn them straight up. After I bought them I looked up the reviews, it was a limited quantity available so I bought them before the review. Some of the reviews didn’t sound so good.
After I got the clamps they looked good, some of the notches in the bar were not cut as deep as they should be which caused the head to slip and not hold, with a small file I fixed that. The handles pull out and turn 90 degrees so you can racquet the clamp tight, which seemed pretty cool at the time but when you try to press the clutch release and pull on the handle the handle pulls out making it difficult to open the jaws. Set them next to my Jet clamps which gave me an idea.
I took the clamps apart and welded a small rod on one of the clutch release plates and put it back together and now the clutch releases easier, and I can hold the release trigger and pull on the clamp and open the jaws with ease. After the modification I really like these clamps. Still think JET is the King though.
Pics are kind of fuzzy, from my cell, sorry.
