My shop vac switch went out last week, looked on line for parts but they don’t offer the switch online, went to Northern Tools, who shows to be an authorized repair center on the book that came with the vac. Northern said they never were a repair center and not sure why they were listed. Went to a vac shop but they didn’t have the right switch either. The problem was the switch has four wires, couldn’t retrofit one with only three connections and it wouldn’t fit in the slot.
Last shot, called customer service direct, very nice lady, she said they don’t offer the switches anymore, they replace the power unit. Great I thought now I have to buy a new motor! When I asked how much, she said “no charge”, they stopped selling switches for liability reasons, so they replace the whole unit. She never asked how old it was, had it about 5 years, worked out great for me in the long run.
Here’s an AT-A-BOY for Shop Vac! Thanks.
