Getting Started #1: Old Tools

I posted over at The Wood Whisperer about some old tools I have from my grandfather that I don’t know the history about.I’m interested if anyone knows how to identify the plane which barely has something etched on the side but it’s too worn down to read. Also there is a tiny saw with a long thin blade that I’m not sure what it’s normally used for. You can see the pictures here. Thank you
