High School Woodworking Technology Instructor from Northwest New Jersey. My plan is to post photos of student projects without names but provide initials to differentiate the students. I am proud of what my students manufacture and build. We take pride, craftsmanship and tradition in what we create in the wood technology lab. I am hoping to make this a really nice showcase and gallery of student work, jigs, fixtures and projects.

I have been teaching high school since 2002. I graduated from The College of NJ with a State of NJ Industrial Arts Teaching Certification. I taught computers, graphic arts, web page design, small engines, desktop publishing, energy/power technology, introduction to technology, automobile service, wood working and mechanical drawing for 12 years in Central NJ. This is my first (strictly) woodworking assignment with high school students in a rural community. I am full time woodshop teacher and proud of my students work. The hardest part of my position is finding ways to integrate solutions for fixing mistakes. I have come up with some pretty unique ones without ruining the students work. That is what makes my job interesting.

My favorite machine is the lathe. I enjoy the capabilities of the table saw and the versatility of the drill press. I have learned to deal with the serenity and repetition of the scroll saw. A newly found interest even though it can be extremely frustrating, is wood carving. I am looking to extend my knowledge base and broaden my horizons. I am not afraid to say I do not know how to do that. A goal of mine is to build a guitar even though I do not know how to play.

My moto and what I tell the students when I problem arises or a machine tears the endgrain out of a piece of wood.... "A good craftsman can hide their mistakes."
