      <title>Pair of Cabinets</title>

        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Pair of Cabinets" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/397335-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a pair of custom cabinets that I built for a customer. Not really sure what you&#8217;d call this style It almost has an eastern feel to it but a the same time a little contemporary. Doesn&#8217;t help that I put mission hardware on it.</p>

	<p>The customer was real specific on certain design aspects, including hole placement in the back.</p>

	<p>The top is a torsion style top to match the thickness of the post.</p>

	<p><strong>Wood Type</strong>: Maple, Poplar, and MDF</p>

	<p><strong>Finish</strong>: Pigmented lacquer</p>

	<p><strong>Hardware</strong>: Mission from CSHardware.com</p>

	<p><strong>Date Completed</strong>: <a href="http://wwbeds.com/March2013.htm">March 2013</a></p>

      <title>Sleigh Bed w/Bent Panels</title>

      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Sleigh Bed w/Bent Panels" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/395595-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>I&#8217;ve build several <a href="http://wwbeds.com/SleighBeds.htm">sleigh beds</a> before, but this is a first with truly bent panels. During the planning phase of this my intentions were to use a vacuum system and form to make the panels. After the customer sent a cardboard pattern of the post and gave me some measurements. I determined that the panels were very thick and a frame with bending plywood would work better.</p>

	<p>The customer has a Lexington suite in with the queen size bed. The company no longer builds this and when they wanted to upsize to a king, they couldn&#8217;t find one to match. We did change it up like not using a scroll at the top of the headboard nor the medallions. I did cut rosettes in the placde of the medallions.</p>

      <title>Princess Bella's Daybed</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/82317</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Princess Bella's Daybed" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/385052-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This has to be the widest daybed I&#8217;ve ever built. It is 12 1/2 feet wide and 8 feet tall. It goes from wall to wall and floor to ceiling. It was finished up in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Feb2013.htm">February 2013</a>, but build over several months preceding that.</p>

	<p><strong>The Bed</strong><br />I stared with a daybed with an arch front/top section. Inside has small bookcase built in, to utilize some of the wasted space behind the bookcases. Under the bed was the pull out trundle. The hardest part was coming up with a way that it could be disassembled and then assembed in the customer&#8217;s room with only 8&#8217; ceilings.</p>

	<p><strong>The Bookcases</strong><br />The bookcases are all the same. They are built in two parts so that they could be assembled without having to stand them up in the room (8&#8217; ceiling restrictions).</p>

	<p>I spent a lot of time on the trim making sure they align up nicely and ways to interfering with other parts.</p>

	<p><strong>The Doors</strong><br />The doors were something that I spent a lot of time on. The have a panel insert from Outwater Plastics and then rope molding added.</p>

	<p><strong>The Finish</strong><br />The finish is a white lacquer with an antiquing glaze. I put about 5 coat of undercoater and white lacquer to achieve a very slick finish as not to put too much of the glaze on the main parts of the bed. We wanted to highlights to really stand out.</p>

	<p><strong>Suppliers</strong><br />Door inserts<a href="http://www.outwatercatalogs.com/lg_display.cfm/catalog/Master_2012/page/611"> Outwater</a><br />Rope Molding and crown <a href="http://www.acadianhardwoods.net/">Cedar Creek</a></p>

It is a style I call the <a href="http://wwbeds.com/HudsonBay.htm">Hudson Bay</a>. It a plain murphy bed with some added moldings. I take some picture frame type molding and miter it into 8 door like boxes. I then add some crown and base.</p>

	<p>I used oak wood under the green lacquer, which gave it a real nice texture. I also distressed it slightly with worm holes and gouges.</p>

      <title>Matched King Size Bed</title>

        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Matched King Size Bed" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/378763-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>Cleaning out my storage area I came across a couple nightstands that were left a alone. Someone bought the bed. Since it is very hard to sell nightstands by themselves, I heavy discounted them and ran them on Craigslist and sold them. There was a catch, the customer wanted a bed to match. The original set wasn&#8217;t one that I made and is no longer available. I did the next best thing. Built one to match.</p>

	<p><strong>Nightstand</strong><br /><a href="http://wwbeds.com/Jan13.htm"><img src="https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/63845_489407581098981_1802105861_n.jpg" title="Nightstand that I needed to match" alt="Nightstand that I needed to match" /></a></p>

	<p>The customer wanted something similar to my <a href="http://wwbeds.com/SpanishPost.htm">Spanish Rose</a> bed that I use to build, with large post. They wanted to eliminate the iron add some trim under the caps and some rope molding under the top trim. I also found some carving appliques that was similar to what was on the nightstand.</p>

	<p>Turned out very nice.</p>

The desk is incoorporated into the face design and and be folded down when needed. <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Murphy bed Maple/White" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/375110-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a new style <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Murphy.htm">murphy bed</a> that I built using the new leg from <a href="http://create-a-bed.com/">Create-a-bed.</a> It frees up the face and allows for more versilatility in the design. This on is a two tone color using natural maple with a white face. It has a 2 1/4&#8221; boarder on all 4 sides. Even the verticals are 2 1/4&#8221;.</p>

	<p>I built this in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Jan13.htm">January 2013</a>.  Here are some building pictures:<br /><a href="</p"><img src="http://wwbeds.com/2013pic/Jan13/Atk130g.jpg" title="trying to locate the pull" alt="trying to locate the pull" /></a>>

        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Custom Captain's Bed" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/369000-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a <a href="http://www.poggyskids.com/Captains.htm">captains bed</a> designed by the customer. It was finished in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Dec2012.htm">December 2012</a>. It is part of my Children&#8217;s<a href="http://www.poggyskids.com/"> Poggy's Kids line</a>. They sent me a real good drawing with a lot of specific details. The headboard is a bookcase style with a beadboard back. The foot board was a raised panel and transitioned into the sides/drawers seamlessly. It had two drawers in either side with full extension rails.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Aloha Murphy Bed (Hawaii Bound)" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/367047-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>Every once in a while I&#8217;ll get a far request for my furniture. This one came from Kailua Hawaii. Originally the customer wanted to trade. This Murphy bed from two weeks in their Hawaii rental. I turned it down due to the even the expense of getting my family their. With it being winter time at home, I am kicking myself now!</p>

	<p>I finished this up in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Dec2012.htm">December 2012</a>. With only a few weeks travel time, it arrived in one piece and installed by the customer. They loved it. I even got a great post and pictures on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/LikeWWBEDS">facebook page</a> <em>&#8221;Chris helped us finally get a perfect Murphy Bed for our Hawaii Home! We priced these beds here in Honolulu and just found particle board crappy manufactured beds for 10,000.00 dollars! Chris made us a work for art for half the price plus shipping! Thank you Chris and everyone at wwbeds!&#8221;</em></p>

	<p>This is my <a href="http://wwbeds.com/smithsonian.htm">Smithsonian Murphy Wall Bed</a> with a <a href="http://wwbeds.com/MurphyDesk.htm">hidden desk</a>. The desk fold up for extra room and so that be bed can come down.</p>

	<p>On the bookcases I put locks on each drawer. Keyed the same on the left and then on the right.</p>

Not only does the bed fold up but a desk was added to the front and it folds as well. (see more <a href="http://wwbeds.com/MurphyDesk.htm">Murphy Beds with desk</a>)</p>

	<p>This bed was built in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Dec2012.htm">December 2012.</a></p>

	<p>The trim that I added to the front dresses it up a little two. I call this version the Manchester.</p>

	<p><strong>Boookcases</strong><br />24&#8221; <a href="http://wwbeds.com/bookcase.htm">bookcases</a> were added to the side. They have adjustable shelves on the top and 3 drawer with a pull out drink tray on the bottom. The bookcase size overall, including crown is 82&#8221;h x 26 1/2&#8221;w x 14 1/2&#8221; deep.</p>

	<p><strong>Color</strong><br />The <a href="http://wwbeds.com/color.htmis">color</a> a standard Espresso on maple wood. To achieve that we first dye the wood and then apply a Ebony stain by <a href="http://www.minwax.com/">Minwax</a>.</p>

	<p>The mechanism was purchased at Create-a-bed. <a href="http://www.wallbed.com/">www.wallbed.com</a> Tell them WWBeds sent you.</p>

      <title>Display Cabinet with marble top</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/78037</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Display Cabinet with marble top" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/363032-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a 140&#8221; display cabinet that will be used for displaying a collection of clocks. It was built and installed in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Dec2012.htm">December 2012</a>.</p>

	<p><strong>Lower Section</strong><br />The lower section is made with a kitchen cabinet design. I lowered the toe kick and added two pullouts behind the door. The backs were left off to access electrical and other connections behind the cabinet.</p>

	<p><strong>Upper Unit</strong><br />The upper unit was built to share a common face frame vertical. After installation it made it look seamless. If you notice an odd shaped stretcher on the lower back of the uppers, that is so I can cope that back side to fit over the existing wainscot molding. I didn&#8217;t want to remove any of that, if the customers decided to remove the cabinet down the road or to sell the house.</p>

	<p><strong>Counter Top</strong><br />Marble was used for the counter top. The overall depth of the unit was 24&#8221;. I put true bottoms on the upper units so that marble wouldn&#8217;t have to cover that back area and 12&#215;12 tiles could be used. The tiles were fit tight with no grout lines. The substrate that was used is just plywood with a build up on the bottom to make it 1 1/2&#8221; thick.</p>

	<p><strong>The Finish</strong><br />We used a different finish on the top and the base cabinets. The base was a custom mix starting with Red Mahogany to match the existing wainscoting on the wall. The uppers were an off-white lacquer.</p>

	<p>Installation was done in two phases. The first was to install the everything but the trim. After the tile was on we came back out and fit a band of trim around the marble top.</p>

      <title>French Quarter Murphy Bed w/Gothic Arch</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/77028</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="French Quarter Murphy Bed w/Gothic Arch" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/357875-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a<a href="http://wwbeds.com/murphy.htm"> Murphy Wall Bed</a> going in the French Quarter and finished up in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Nov2012.htm">November 2012</a>. The customer sketched up something and wanted the Gothic arch style doors. The were concerned with getting the arch correct. I did some research and found the formula to make the arch without having to free hand it. Here is a quick video of how I did it:<br /><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0XlYAkgfYto" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe><br /><em>Can&#8217;t see real good in the video. I&#8217;ll try and make blog on it in the future</em> </p>

	<p><strong>Wood/Color Choice</strong><br />We used a maple wood and did a glazing technique to get more of an old world feel to the piece. It was stained using a Dark Walnut stain. The stain was sealed in with lacquer and then an Ebony stain was used as a glaze. We sprayed the glaze, wiped it off slightly, leaving it heavier on the edges. Using a dry brush we wiped out any streaks. The glaze was then seal with a couple more coats of lacquer.</p>

	<p><em>Some of the pictures above show the same one without upper cabinets</em></p>

It had a total of 12 <a href="http://wwbeds.com/drawer.htm">drawers</a> which are similar to my <a href="http://wwbeds.com/captains.htm">captain's drawer pedestal</a>. From there an inset pedestal with a platform was added, giving it a floating feeling. This was completed in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Oct2012.htm">October 2012</a></p>

	<p>The wood was oak with a black lacquer finish. Great texture of the wood using the oak over a painted service.</p>

        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Football Locker Murphy Bed" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/345371-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>I took my <a href="http://wwbeds.com/murphy.htm">Murphy bed</a> and changed the face to resemble a <a href="http://wwbeds.com/locker.htm">locker</a>. I&#8217;ve done this before in the baseball style. The name plates unlock it from the cabinet and it opens into bed.</p>

	<p>I use the <a href="http://create-a-bed.com/">Create-a-bed</a> system, which is very easy to use.</p>

	<p><strong>The Finish</strong><br />The finish that I use is a lacquer system that is real durable. I have access to all the true team colors and get them custom matched. Most of the lettering is vinyl but I did airbrush some of it.</p>

      <title>Camo Headboard</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/74049</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Camo Headboard" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/343813-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This <a href="http://poggyskids.com/camo.htm">Camo Headboard</a> is a bed that I built simply because I wanted to.  I don&#8217;t get many of those.  Usually the project I build are pre-sold and are for a customer.</p>

	<p>The headboard measures 40&#8221;w x 48&#8221;h on the twin and attaches to a standard steel frame. I made it to where the legs are detachable and can be removed and shipped UPS or Fedex.</p>

	<p>I used a Realtree pattern material for the headboard. This is perfect for that young hunter (or the older on; king and queen available). This is a bed even the Duck Commander would be Jealous of. It will make you Happy, Happy, Happy!</p>

      <title>Twin/Full Custom Bunk</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/73823</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Twin/Full Custom Bunk" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/342657-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>I don&#8217;t normally build this style of <a href="http://poggyskids.com/Bunk%20Beds.htm">bunk bed</a> since there are some many imports in similar style flooding the market, but I had a special request. This custom like the style bud didn&#8217;t want screws showing on the end panels that attached the side rails. They also wanted to add some drawer extra storage</p>

	<p>The drawers have a raised panel look and the ladder had to stop at the lower side rail to keep from interfering with the operation of the drawers.</p>

	<p>It was finished in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Oct2012.htm">October 2012</a> and we used maple wood, dyed and stained to match a cappuccino color.</p>

      <title>Yankees Baseball Daybed</title>
      <link>http://lumberjocks.com/projects/73482</link>
      <description>
        <![CDATA[<p><img alt="Yankees Baseball Daybed" src="http://lumberjocks.com/assets/pictures/projects/340976-196x130.jpg" /></p><p>This is a modification of my Yankees <a href="http://www.poggyskids.com/Baseball%20Bed.htm">baseball bed</a>. The customer wanted a daybed version of it with a trundle and drawers. It was completed in <a href="http://wwbeds.com/Sept2012.htm">September 2012</a>. I used the large headboard that I normally build for the <a href="http://poggyskids.com/baseballloft.htm">Baseball Loft bed</a> and changed up the end panels. I originally use two foot boards, but I didn&#8217;t like the look, so I made new panels that had a swooping design.</p>

	<p>The color is the true Yankee blue color that we had matched.</p>

	<p>Here are some building pictures:<br /><a href="http://wwbeds.com/Sept2012.htm"><img src="http://wwbeds.com/2012pic/Sep12/Ragosa912.jpg" title="Original side panels" alt="Original side panels" /></a><br /><a href="http://wwbeds.com/Sept2012.htm"><img src="http://wwbeds.com/2012pic/Sep12/Ragosa912e.jpg" title="Drawer Unit" alt="Drawer Unit" /></a><br /><a href="http://wwbeds.com/Sept2012.htm"><img src="http://wwbeds.com/2012pic/Sep12/Rogo9123.jpg" title="Parts Drying" alt="Parts Drying" /></a></p>
