I have launched a new website (www.wwbeds.com). The new website has a cleaner, more user-friendly appeal. The site features over 200 pages and 7,000 images. Most of those are archived pictures of past projects (see Archives). The website still offers customers the opportunity to watch their furniture built live. Three remote-control cameras offer customers a variety of views of the workshop. I am having a little trouble with that right now, so I don’t have it running all the time until I work out the bugs. Most importantly WWBeds website is now mobile-friendly.
The new website was born of necessity. In August 2015, I received a letter from my web host saying, “Congratulations! We’ve upgraded your server.” I knew what that meant and it was confirmed when I could not log on to my website to make any changes. The upgraded server and my web software were no longer compatible.
I was concerned the new website would affect my Google rankings. All the page will not line up with links. Example here on Lumberjocks. I fixed some of them with some “301 redirects” but will have to and change the links on my projects here that didn’t get fixed. So if you see broken links or missing pictures on my project that is why. I’ll fix those in the coming weeks.
The last few days I had a 20-30% increase in traffic, even taking out the social media push I’ve been doing. The new mobile-friendly website should help increase Google rankings, since the search engine ranks mobile-friendly sites higher than those who are not mobile-friendly. I suggest if you have not made the change to mobile friendly do that soon.
I still have another site still to build. It is the one with my Kid’s furniture at Poggyskids.com.
