no previous part Part 1 of New (To Me) Wood series no next part

I went out to a CL posting to grab some 8/4 walnut yesterday and found that the guy had a TON of other stuff that he was looking to get rid of. With a quick handshake, I was headed home with the truck loaded down!

List:
8/4 Walnut
4/4 Walnut
8/4 Ash
8/4 White Oak
8/4 Red Oak
8/4 Birds-eye Maple
10/4 Honduran Mahogany
8/4 Honduran Mahogany
4/4 Honduran Mahogany
10/4 Figured Birch
8/4 Figured Sapele
8/4 Dark Mystery Wood (likely Wenge)
8/4 Redish Mystery Wood (looks like Mahogany but doesn’t appear to have open pores)
4/4 Wenge
a few other misc. pieces

To make sure I was in the good graces of my other half, I quickly assembled a quick and dirty lumber rack to keep the pile organized and out of the way.

What a score. Not sure what I’m going to do with all of it, but it’s certainly nice to have options! Ideas?

What I have in my mind is a chair . Not bad idea though. Well, tell you, you can do many things out of it. Just Think and Research ! :) There are bunches of stuff posted here in LJ ..

Does the mystery board have tiny white lines in some of the pores? Great find, BTW.

No white lines as I recall. I’ll have to upload some pictures when I’m back in town…

Have your say...
