DIY Bat Houses

I made these bat houses over the weekend. Mosquitoes get pretty bad where I live and it is beneficial to have bats around as natural insect control. These definitely are not fine woodworking projects but they are fun, cheap and easy to make. I hope you like the video.

These are a great idea. I have a couple on the side of my house. Just make sure they get mounted on a Northern facing wall. Kudos!

Thanks Ron! I just read your project on the tenon jig and saw. I want to make one. Every once in a while i get a bug to do a hand tool only project!

Looks like a great idea for summer evenings in the great outdoors!

hjt, Yea it can get bad, right? There are a couple bat houses over by the public library on Minton Rd that the county put up.

I was just thinking about one of your old projects. I picked up an old cast iron garden bench this evening someone was throwing out. I remember you rebuilt a couple a few years ago.

Look forward to see what you do with the benches. Good memory!!

So it took you a few hours to make your bat houses and you say the library on Minton has some bat house. I’ll take a drive over there – should have my bat house erect in 30 mins!!
