Location: Albuquerque, NM

Laid off 08/09 (30 years in the flooring business). At 64 and the state of the economy not many job prospects, decided to set up a wood shop in my 2 car garage. I have always enjoyed working with wood, took shop classes in high school and took a wood working class in college. Insulated and sheet rocked the garage. Also insulated the metal garage door. Had a separate circuit installed with many outlets for my equipment and installed additional lighting. All my equipment is on wheels and stored against the wall. This allows me to put my wife's car in the garage except when working on large projects. Hope to supplement my retirement with this hobby/business. Not sure what I will be making yet, but have a lot of ideas and suggestions. Looking forward at this opportunity to see where the Lord will lead.

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best to only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

Good luck Jack! You are doing the same thing I did. If I can be of any help just let me know. Check out my workshop. It might give you some ideas.

God Bless
