Hello to all of you Lumberjocks out there,
This is my first ever blog entry so be gentle, hehe.
I’m going to start with some background on me so you all know who’s talking here. I’m 46, married and have four wonderful children. We live in the Chicago area and have a house on a corner, all is good.
I’ve been working the wood for almost 15 years now and most of my projects have been for family or friends. I have sold some and given some away to my wifes’ church and my kids school. I specialize in big stuff like arbors, pergolas and storage thingamadoodles (ducks’ favorite word from word world). Only those with kids under 4 or so will get the reference. I’m trying to break into furniture so I can make some money doing the thing I love. I have done step boards, toy boxes, doll beds, storage boxes, shelving galore and small boxes for everything from pocket knives to banks. My projects are good enough but I’m trying to get into fine woodworking like furniture. My first real piece is on my project board but I have done curved arch doors and screen doors for friends. I’m very excited about my first real piece and I hope the customer likes it a lot.
In my real job I work at an architecture firm in the Loop as a structural engineering drafter using Autocad. Great work and people but I can’t wait to get home to get into my shop, read garage, and start sawing and sanding and designing my next wood project. I also have a handyman business that I’m trying to get going.
I love this website and the people here and am so glad that I found it.
Well that’s my first entry. Hope you enjoyed it.
Best regards to all,

I have been a furniture/cabinet builder/designer for over 35 years. Now that I am retired, it is kind of nice to build for family, friends and church. Enjoy your woodworking!

God Bless
