Here are some pictures after the final shaping using a random orbit palm sander.I just smooth one ridge into the next and regrind a new profile as I feel is needed.Its more about feel than any real definite plan of attack.I radius the lip of the box where it meets the lid by hand and then do the edge of the lid.
Do just enough to roll one into the other,keeping the gap as small as possible.I use #150 for this final shaping/blending.Then I go through several sandings using finer grits until ...

I managed to get a few pieces done today so I’ll begin by showing the steps needed to begin the intarsia process. This photo shows the set-up to trace a section from the pattern onto sticky back label paper. I have taped the pattern down and have slid the carbon paper and label paper under the section I am tracing.I use a fine point mechanical pencil to do the tracing because it gives a crisp consistent line. Use a straight edge to trace any frame border lines.

This intricate project is a veneered, inlaid, banded, and beaded set consisting of a coffee table and two end tables. The visible woods are curly maple, boire, Peruvian walnut, anigre, figured anigre, and wenge.
The secondary woods are mahogany and poplar.
