G0548Z - 2HP Canister Dust Collector

G0548Z - 2HP Canister Dust Collector

Background...I’ve been reading up on and conspiring to get DC into a working shop for what seems like ages. And though I’ve always wanted to set up a two stage cyclone system, when it came right down to it, I didn’t have the space or the money. So turning my sights to single stage units, I flagged the G0548Z as my pick. Fast forward to January, when I found that the price had gone up in the 2012 catalog, but that the holiday sale of $375 was still good for a few more days...

My New Grizzly Bandsaw

My New Grizzly Bandsaw

I am in love! I have never reviewed a product and am not rerally sure how to do this but I do have to say that this product has changed and inhanced my woodworking so much. I have 2 blades that I work with; a 1/4 and 3/4 Highland Woodworking Wood Slicer blades that are amazing. I ordered the riser for this saw as well so I do use 105” blades. The setup is so easy. From the table to the fence to the miter gauge, it is so easy to square things up and get perfect cuts. The dust collection ...

5 Ton Electric Log Splitter

5 Ton Electric Log Splitter

It is getting to be that time of year. I have seen some posts asking how people heat thier shop in the winter. I heat mine with both electric heat and a wood stove. Last year my brother loaned me his Homelite Electric Log Splitter to split my firewood. The maul and sledge hammer is just not a much fun as it used to be. I couldn’t believe how easy and great this machine was to use. After raving about it all summer, he bought me one for my birthday . They sell for $299.00 at ...

Great Cutting Board Finish!

Great Cutting Board Finish!

Last summer I was working on a cutting board my girlfriend and looked deeply into what i could use to finish it. I considered the normal oil and wax, however that needs to be reapplied after some time of use. I then stumbled upon this salad bowl finish by General Finishes and all i can say is WOW! The cutting board i made for her last summer still looks great and fully water proof. You can take a look for yourself: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/44940 This is after almost daily use for...

Great saw. The Grizzly G0690

Great saw. The Grizzly G0690

This is a great saw. $1250.00 no shipping, no tax. 3hp, riving knife, left tilt, bessimeyer style fence, solid construction, three belt, 240v. In the pic, I used some weather stripping to seal the motor door, better dust extraction, also seal the lower pan in the cabinet. I ordered the Heavy Duty Shop Fox base by mistake. The base is too big for this saw, so I cut 2 1/4 from the long rails of the base with a recip saw and a metal cutting blade. The result is a much heftier base than the...

Professional Cabinet Saw w/Mobile Base and 52" Rails

Professional Cabinet Saw w/Mobile Base and 52" Rails

I’ve had this for a few weeks now and have used it to finish up two projects. Many things to love and a few minor irritations. The saw was an upgrade from a Steel City Hybrid (the one just before the granite and the riving knives) which is what I have to compare against. Power and Cutting WoodFirst, the SawStop is not a hybrid so off to have 220V installed; wish I had done that sooner – I also rewired the bandsaw and nothing has tripped since. The plug is a ‘standard&#...
