Holy smokes! #1: When is the last time you cleaned your dust filter canister ?

So I sold my Jet 1100DC and was cleaning it up today for the new owner. The machine has the bar on top to spin the flappers on the inside. Prior to moving it to the driveway, I turned the flappers a few times like I do each week with the machine on. Taking it outside, I removed the bag and started up the leaf blower and started to blow all the dust out. Holy smokes! Shot air from the outside of the machine through the pleats and out the bottom came a PILE of saw dust that just kept on giving. The pile ended up about 8 inches tall and the dust was everywhere. Shot it from the bottom directly into the belly of the beast. Wow, there was so much dust packed into the filter! I always assumed the flappers cleaned the filter! No way! If your machine is not “sucking like it used to” try giving the filter a good cleaning with a leaf blower. Make sure to wear your dust mask ! The whole process took about 5 minutes to just clean the filter, then another 30 minutes to wash the cars.

I clean my pleated filter every week to keep it in top operating capacity. It is a 5-10 minute ritual that is well worth it.

-- If retiring is having the time to be able to do what you enjoy then I have always been retired.
