Thank you for the welcome. I found your community a couple of years ago and at that time was embarking on a kind of later-in-life new craft. (I’m moderately known in my area as a photographer and artist.) I was about to rent a bench and the use of machines in a shop in scenic Paterson, NJ. Given that I’m an apartment dweller and not a well-heeled one, this was and remains my only option. Unfortunately I got side-tracked in that worthy endeavor. At this point I’m trying again to find a shop share somewhere, although I know that’s a long shot.
I’ve built a few pieces using the most basic tools and materials. Given that, they turned out alright but they would hardly impress any of you folks. Still, hope springs eternal. On the other hand, I have plenty of ideas. A long time back I worked for some years as a draftsman and designer. I have a large body of so far unrealized designs in the form of old hand-made drawings and I’ve done some SketchUp models as well.
Well, that’s about the size of it. Thanks again. I hope I can contribute something worthwhile in the coming months.
