Part 1: Bunk bed

Well here goes another project! My oldest daughter asked if I could make the granddaughters a bunk-bed. So as usual dad is up to the challenge!! After three days of looking on the Internet for different bed styles I picked the one pictured below. We all approved this bed as the one best fit to the girls. So I purchased 6- 4×8 sheets of cabinet grade birch ply, 2- 4×8 sheets OSB, 1- 4×8 sheet Masonite board. We also bought several wood drawer pulls. The picture you see sh...

Part 2: Main upright mods

Well the closet & desk end mods are built (except for drawers). These pictured are just the basic structures. I am currently working on the drawers & man what alot of peices (5 for each drawer total of 8 drawers).

Part 3: Drawers

Well all the drawers are done! They were very time consuming even though the pocket screws made this process a lot easier. Rather than use metal drawer slides ( WHICH ARE OUTRAGEOUS IN PRICE $13 SET ) I dadoed the sides to run on some hardwood runners using wood dowels as stops. There are a total of 8 drawers. And believe it or not every drawer ended up square each time I assembled one!

Part 4: Edge banding

If anyone has any tips on iron on edge banding for plywood I would like to hear from you. I have had some problems in the past with adhesion and do not want to develop problems on this project.

Part 6: getting there

Sorry all I have been working some long hours & not had time to hit the shop much. But everything is banded & I am sanding away! Hope to post some full assembly pics you can see.
