Kerfmaker - Bridge City

My wife surprised me with this last night. Hey, I deserved it. That snowblower doesn’t steer itself :) What it does: (see link. it explains it better than I can)http://www.bridgecitytools.com/Products/KM-1+Kerfmaker Here’s another review showing what it does:http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/1154 Impressions:I knew it would be small so I wasn’t surprised there. I immediately went to loosen the thumb screws and mess around with it, but I couldn’t get the silv...

all in one - color and finish

all in one - color and finish

Sometimes when all a project needs is some oil to pop the figure and liven up the color, it seems that a wipe-on oil finish is the best solution. Some local, experienced, woodworkers pointed me to Deft danish oil. They all use it on their rocking chairs and other various projects. Compared to Watco, I believe that Deft utilized more resin in their formula. So while prividing the great hand rubbed look it provides much more protection than the standard danish oil. I also prefer the way th...

Quality plane for years to come.

Quality plane for years to come.

In my book Veritas builds high quality planes with a dash of new and innovative thinking for a reasonable price. It’s not a cheap price but if you’re looking to be happy with a plane in every way, then this is the first brand in the price range. In my opinion. I use this plane for everything except for smoothing a wide board. This will handle end grain and even the side grain of birds eye maple. However, you need to get your plane iron sharp. I suggest the A2 steel. You s...

Perfect for when you need precise setup

Perfect for when you need precise setup

When ever I need to set my table saw or router to an exact height or router table fence to an exact depth, I grab this. If you’d like to get this kind of precision but don’t like the price… Just buy it and get it over with. I was the same way. You’ll end up getting it someday so you might as well get it now.

Every woodworker should have one of these.

Every woodworker should have one of these.

This is used nearly every time my pencil is used. It’s just great. Perfect layouts are so much easier in every way now. I don’t really have much else to say. The picture is pretty self explanitory. Oh, I use the 6 inch because I usually make smaller things. Even if you make large projects most of the layout is at the end of the board for joinery and what not so the 6 inch should be fine for that too.Get one. I can’t imagine you’ll wish you hadn’t.

Love it! Use it all the time. Wish I bought it sooner

Love it! Use it all the time. Wish I bought it sooner

I love this drum sander. I use it every time I dimension pieces for a project. I used to go to my ridgid 12 inch planer every time, and I still do if more needs to be taken off. But I prefer the finish the drum sander puts on my pieces before I start cutting them up for whatever I’m making. If you do a lot of inlay this is a must have machine. You can sand a piece down to 1/32 inch with this one. I usually only go to 1/16 or just past that for my inlay. Then I cut the strips to w...

Pretty good so far

Pretty good so far

I just bought a can of this at a rockler store. I think it was on sale for $14. I was finishing up a christmas present that I wanted to use wax on and I wanted the best for this one. I had read other review and everything seemed pretty positive about it. My experience wasn’t any different. It “seems” to work well and I’m not really sure how much protection it provides. I was hoping that it would dry harder than it does. It also doesn’t dry “instantly...

I love my Router Boss!

I love my Router Boss!

I’m a perfectionist. I only have a few projects under my belt but each one has been seems to be a leap in quality from the last. I was wanting to do dovetails, lots of inlay and complex joinery. I wanted to do it all but it seemed like I was going to be making alot of router jigs, bandsaw jigs and table saw jigs. I didn’t want to spend all of my time making jigs though. I wanted to spend it making these projects I see in my head. In my head they’re perfect and I won...

1 Unlevel top and 3 warped fences

1 Unlevel top and 3 warped fences

It was between the Grizzly G0555X, G0513 and the Rikon Deluxe. I deliberated the total cost of ownership and quality of each saw. That meant upgrades, modifications, shipping and the number of years I was sure the saw would be useful to me. Many reviews I read on the grizzly’s said that they had vibration issues so they’d need new poly bands for the wheels and other slight modifications that actually add to the total price. I’ve never been ok with sub-par quality so I knew w...
