I have been doing pictoral woodworking- marquetry & intarsia since the early 90's and have made hundreds of intarsia images for personal collectors and the Walt Disney Company. I gave it all up in 2001 due largely to burnout and took a job selling windows and doors...thinking I could come back to this in my retirement years.
As luck would have it, I was laid off in mid 2009, so here I am with a choice...go back to the comfort of a steady paycheck (should somebody actually respond to my resumes) or fire up Wooden Journey again. My inclination is for the latter.
In 2006, with the help of 2 great friends,I built a house with a sweet garage-shop area. We did everything but the drywall...to old for that! So I have been engaged in a lot of interior trim and cabinetwork the past few years.
It is my intent to marry these skills down the road...but for now, I need to replace an income by doing what I have always done best- work the wood!
