My original choice was the Grizlly G0490X 8” Jointer w/ Spiral Cutterhead, but was backordered until 13 Dec. and I need a jointer yesterday in order to do the Xmas presents.

Well, be sure to do a review on the machine. That spiral cutterhead is apparently a dream.

Yep, I’ll do a review on this machine after I’ve had it awhile.

The jointer was received and with the help of an assitant I put that huge infeed outfeed table on the stand. WOW, that was heavy.
I had a hard time getting the V-belt on – Whew, but once I put a 2×4 under the motor and gave a few wiggles it finally popped into place. This was my hardest part of the build, that and removing an acre of cosmolene.
Fit and finish is not bad at all. And at 522 ppunds it doesn’t move.
I ran a old piece of pine on it just for initial test and the board came out flat and the edges were square as confirmed by my straight square.
I’ll do more in-depth report after I jave used it awhile which will be sunday because I have a lot of cherry and walnut to run through it.
