Part 1: Sawdust to the rescue
After cleaning my brushes in thinner or mineral spirits, or emptying my stain pot, I pour the liquid into a can filled with sawdust. The sawdust absorbs the liquid and at the end of the week I toss it. In fact I keep two can of dust,one for the liquids and one for the container that they came in. Part 2: dust collection
I have found an easy and very effective way to keep my rigid shopvac filter clean. I had some left over Orek filter bags so I cut them seven inches from the top and slipped them over the pleated filter, tucking in the tops of thebag to keep dust from leaking out. Well after three weeks the filter is 90% dust free, all I do is tap the bag and the dust fall off easily.I do not remove the bag.
