I am a woodworker, carver, artist, and photographer. I make frames for my artwork and my photo's. I have also made furniture for my Husband's and my new home that we are building. My husband and I have been married for 23 years........he is my best friend. We have been building on our own home for 5 years now. It is a log house, my husband went to the woods, cut the trees, sawed them with an old 1957 frick sawmill. Everybody that looks at our home thinks it's a kit. It's not, it came from our own imagination and with the helping hands of the Good Lord up above. We have never built a house before...........this is the first one. I will be posting pics of it in the next week or two. I am looking forward to sharing what I know and learnning from all of you! I have a myspace page if you would like to visit it...........it is: www.myspace.com/robinreneerusticheirlooms
be sure to check it out!!

Robin – thank you for making me one of your buddies. Once I figure out how that is done I will reciprocate.

It is well worth the effort to build your own home. We bought this farm in 1976: the house was built in 1853. Over the past 33 years I have built onto it, modified it, renovated it, and now repaired it. I have built three barns, made a milk house, changed that to a work shop, fenced the pastures, and now grow vegetables for just my wife and me. Although I have learned a lot during that time, I am now becoming too old to continue to focus on the house. I have this need to become a single digit golfer!

I have a friend that golfs, & I asked him if he had a golf cart.

He said no,

”The only thing I get out of golf is exercise, & frustration, if I had a cart, all I’d get from it is frustration.”

Golf can become a religious experience. The rules are as arcane as those of Catholicism. There seems to be a predisposition to losing a ball in water that borders on the deterministic teaching of Calvin. The equipment is changed when something new comes along – to me that seems like a Jew preparing the kitchen each Spring for passover. And then there is Scotland: we golfers must bow to the East several times a day just like a Muslim.

It is a weird obsession.

Hi, Gary….....sorry I have been slow on getting pics of our log home on here. If you are curious to what it looks like you can view a photo of it on my myspace page….....when you get on my page, under my profile pic, click on the pics and it will take you to part of my album page click on the log house and it will give a bigger picture of it. We are putting the hard wood floors down in the living room and the kitchen, when that is completed I will begin to build my cabinets for my kitchen….......so think positive thoughts for me, I will need them.this is the biggest project I have ever tackled by myself. You can just call me by my first name if you like…........Robin….....thanks Gary!

Hey Robin! Thanks for buddying me! I love to chat with fellow lady wood workers. I probably would’ve responded a lot faster but I was in my workshop (never a bad thing! LOL) and really haven’t been online much at all. We have so much in common I too built my own log home (with the help of hubby and extended family—gotta give credit where credit~or blame~is due). I love my home but compared to yours it’s just a little cabin on the hill. I’ll see if I can round up some pics…after all it should be in my “projects”. Then we can compare notes!

Hi Robin, Welcome aboard the wood train called LumberJocks. If you were the one that did those project scenes in the pictures up above I am very impressed with your work. I’m retired now and do not do anything too big. But if I ever needed advice on anything in wood working I have this tremendous resource with all our members to advise me. Good luck with everything. It is a very fine membership here.
