I was doing my typical free-time perusal of wood working blogs and sites when I came across the announcement that Sam Maloof had passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009.After a genuinely stunned and heart felt moment of silence I began to reflect on what an impact this person, whom I never had the pleasure of meeting, had on my life. My very first adventure into wood working, beyond framing in doors and cabinets, was learning to build his signature rocking chair. My passion for wood working was awakened and, while it may sound a bit trite, my life was forever altered.
