This is my second Model T car to build, but I’ve also built the truck and the tank truck this time as well. This is the complete set from the Norm Marshall book. They are done in pine with some poplar mixed in and finished in a homemade beeswax/mineral oil finish.

Here is my first toy model project. It’s from the Norm Marshall wooden toy book. It’s made entirely from well-seasoned 2×6 wood studs. I have a huge surplus of them and I’m using them to practice as I learn to make models and toys. This one definitely has a few flaws, but I learned a lot and am tweaking my tools and refining my methods. Will be building lots more and hopefully getting better as I build each one.

This is my first real woodworking project after finishing the shop remodel this summer. Since my wife has been so patient and supportive throughout the summer, I decided to make her the nail polish rack she’s been requesting for awhile now. She teaches cosmetology at a local hair institute and as such has a large collection of polishes. We decided she needed a unit to hold at least 150 bottles. So the dimensions ended up being 2ft x 4ft. I used 1/4” Lauan plywood for the backing and 1/2” thick boards for the trays and side rails. The front rails are 1/4”. I dimensioned all the wood on my tablesaw from standard 2×4’s. I sanded the edges to form a roundover to give it a bit more finished look.

I then decided to try my hand at HVLP spraying for the first time. I sprayed first with Zinsser primer which was thinned with water and Floetrol, then finished with an interior latex(also thinned with water and Floetrol) to match the trim in the bathroom.

Overall it came out well and is very sturdy. There was a lot more I would do next time, but for a first project I’m pretty happy with it and the wife is ecstatic which is what really counts!
