Re-sawing fence? - 4 replies

I’m going to finally order a wood slicer blade for my Rikon 10-325 so I can re-saw wood into thinner pieces. The absolute max height of the wood would be 8”. I know that the existing Rikon saw fence really doesn’t work for me for several reasons, height being one. So I want to buy (not make) one for this purpose. I do hav...

Ultra Duster & Arm R Seal - 9 replies

I’ve been using Arm R Seal as the finish on my boxes for over a year, probably because of comments by Charles Neil. Anyway, I really like it but found I had a problem after using some that I had a skim covering over the liquid after re-opening the can. Now granted I was probably doing everything wrong – using from the can, dumping ...

I’m doing some valet boxes for nephews & would like feedback on the design. Grizzly G0716 sander feedback - 5 replies

I’ve looked at the reviews and cannot find anything current on the Grizzly G0716 sander. Evidently there were issues early on, but if it’s a good unit it would fit my requirements. I’m mainly doing smaller items (boxes) do not foresee a need for large capacity (more than 8” width or 36” length – at most). Nor ...

White Walnut? - 7 replies

I was picking up some wood today from local mill & was looking for some more walnut. Said all they had at present in the kiln was “white walnut”. Since I didn’t have a clue what that was, asked more & sawyer’s wife told me she understood it is also called “butternut”.Quick search seems to indicate that...

New Reality Show - 2 replies

Okay – here’s my idea for a good reality show…. The Kardashian Family versus the Robertson Family (Duck Dynasty) on Survivor. Only problem might be that it wouldn’t go too many episodes. First I thought – have them compete on Family Feud, but this would be better. A great Father’s Day gift!

First – thanks to everyone that shares their knowledge & expertise. I found LJ by accident a couple of months ago as I searched for information on equipment for a home shop.
