There comes a time in a persons life when you decide if your going to be a cup half full kinda person or a cup half empty kinda person. Before my divorce my shop set on my 2.5 acre place and was in my barn. I had 2 big windows and in the evening i could watch the deer come out to feed in the field behind my house. My fishing gear sat in the corner of my shop and when the mood struck i could drop everything and head to the nieghbors pond and catch some of the biggest blue gill and bass you can imagine. Sounds nice dont it? But since it was in an old barn when it rained i could feel water on my head, when the wind blew i could feel in on my face, when the snow melted or it rained too hard i had a river flowing threw the middle of my shop floor, and then there was the raccoons! Who knew that such a cut little critter could be so damn rude! It frustrating to put everything back in it place before you leave just to have them throw the stuff wherever they wanted. They were forever knocking stuff off shelves and clamps off the rack, one even had enough nerve to have her babies in my scrap wood box! I would have loved to see my face when i reached in the box to grab some scrap wood only to come face to face with that snarling beast.
This weekend my goal was to get my new shop so that i could walk from one end to the other without stepping over something. Didn’t sound like much of a task but with 300 bf of 8/4 walnut and 200bf of other lumber on the floore it was a good goal. I can say that i successfully met my goal for the weekend and my back is definatly happy that that job is done. I even got as far as getting some new lighting in the place too. I managed to get some of the lumber up into the rafters and the rest i put on a lumber rack i built. Not sure how much time ill get this week but my next job will be to start getting my hand tool back into my bench and to start building some storage for my bench top tools. Hopefully i can work on that this weekend. I’ll post some pics as soon as i figure out how!
