no previous part Part 1 of finally my new shop series Part 2: starting to take shape! »

I read alot of stories on here about how someone gets into woodworking because they got married and want to build furniture for their new home and growing families, this is not my story! After finding myself divorced about a year ago I was left scurrying for a place to set up shop, and a home! I was fortunate to find an apartment where i could rent a garage space that had electric in it. I have one light bulb and one outlet but both are on seperate circuits and since i was an electrician for 15 years this is plenty of electric for me. My new shop space is 9 feet wide by 20 feet deep. While this may seem small I’m more than confident that this will be plenty of room to set up my new shop and look forward to finding ways to maximize floor space. I also hope that a smaller shop means i can clean it in less time. Because i had to act quickly i just threw everything in there figuring i can organize and move things around later. I plan on starting this task this weekend!

Welcome to Lumberjocks and best wishes as you establish your shop. Feel free to ask questions here and you certainly can find many, many ideas by viewing the shops of LJs. Good luck, enjoy and be safe.

That’s about the same space I have too. That and the great outdoors – don’t have to clean up so much out there! I’m sure you’ll do fine woodworking in your space.
