Emma's Playhouse / swingset

this is a playhouse/swingset i built a couple of years ago for my daughters birthday.sorry i dont have many pics these where all i could find.made out of pressure treated lumber.i built this with help from my best friend and my father in law.i worked on it for about 3 weeks after work and weekends in 100 degree august heat after working 70-75 hrs a week.it was a fun project i seen a set for sale very similar and said i could build it.i braced it very well and we decided on stairs instead of a ladder after i saw a friends steps he built for his grandkids.on the bottom level it has two benches that run long both side and in the middle it has a table about 3 ft. long.what it lacks in fit and finish it makes up for in sturdy,me and my best friend a large fellas and the top floor holds us fine.the steps holds adults fine.

a lot of people told me to just buy one and put together, but after looking i thought they where over priced and flimsy.after all said and done i built a larger and more sturdy set for cheaper than one out of a box.i’ve been happy with the way it turned out and the little boss love’s it.

thanks for looking.
marty

Bench made from twin size bed.

a customer brought me a twin size head and footboard wanting it made into a bench.so the headboard i was able to keep intact, but the footboard i had to cut the bottoms of the legs off about 2 1/2” and took the rails and spindles off.the rails were attached using m&t and very loose, but someone had put about 20 nails in each for me.so i filled in the mortise holes and was able to build the seat.it turned out pretty good in my opinion.the bench turned out to be very sturdy also.the last picture is when she finished it.thanks for looking any crituques or comments are welcome.

shop projects

just a few shop projects i’ve been working on lately.

1)cross cut sled built it with scrap wood based off plans seen on lj’s and the one steve marin built.turned out pretty decent and have been making plans to build a larger one with t-tracks and stop block.

2)mobile base for scroll saw.used 4”casters and scrap wood on this.its nice to have it mobile to move around, now i need to build a planer stand,mb for my sander,mb for my router table and a mb for my bandsaw.i’m working on adding shelves to put junk err store stuff i mean.

3)down draft sanding box.i screwed up the cut on my top piece and cut it about a half inch short and i put a little chaulk on the inside of the dust port cause there’s a little lip and i didn’t want dust collecting there.i added rubber feet on the bottom to help with vibrations a trick i seen posted on a box here on lj’s.i’m gonna make a handle on the side to help carry it and to hang it on the wall.don’t look to close at it cause you’ll find a bunch of mistakes,i got in to big of a hurry i guess.

thanks for looking and any critism or ideas on changes would be appreciated.thanks,marty.
