I've been a beginning woodworker for 30 years :) I have fairly complete wood shop in the basement and mostly make furniture and gifts for friends and family. The best part of the hobby is the thrill of seeing all those boards slowly (very slowly) come together to create a great heirloom gift. My tools to output ratio is very high - that means; I have a lot of tools, very little output. Basically, the hobby is using $10,000 worth of tools and weeks on end of labor to produce something that can be bought at Walmart for a couple hundred dollars.
I guess love makes you do funny things.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. What we make is not available at Walmart. What we make is a gift of a piece of ourselves. Just one note, you may want to consider posting not more than one project a day. When you post multiple projects in a row you effectively bump everyone else’s project to a secondary page. This denies them an opportunity to have their work reviewed and commented upon. Have fun, its a great community.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself just about 2 years ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…
I apologize for the late welcome but I am currently serving overseas and don’t have a lot of spare time on my hands.
Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
