Book Shelf – Portable Bookshelf – for Tabletop

Wood Magazine – May 2003 – for Plans

I used a Sliding Dovetail to attach the shelf to the Ends instead of what the plans called for.

I found a Bed Headboard on the street on Trash day… was solid wood! That’s what I used.

I could have / should have sanded the wood a little more, but I thought it would some character to it the way I did.

A little wood burning was done for a Unicorn on each End.

Finished it with Garnet Shellac…

Hope you like it.

I’m pleased that you’ve overcome your shyness Joe, that’s a very neat project. I’m intrigued where you found a unicorn to pose for you! Seriously Joe, did YOU really do the wood burning?

Harry,

Shyness? NOT… I’m LAZY… and do not like to process all of those Pictures, etc.

I found the Unicorn via Google several years ago… He is nice and Gentle now. LOL

... and YES… I did the wood burning all by my self… and didn’t get burned either… LOL
... that’s fun… takes me back to my early childhood… LOL

Headboard bookshelf, doesn’t get better than that. Neat idea.

could have been a nice Christmas present, for 2013 not 2012. Glad you didn’t burn yourself in the process.

Interesting item, and that a way to score on a dumpster dive!! Made me think of a few projects for here in La Conner. We could use a couple of better end tables, and a book shelf like that to go on top of them.

Just about done with my torsion box bench, will try to post it this week without finish. I will wait for spring to paint it since I like to use Watco for shop stuff, and large items really need to dry outside.

Have a good New Year’s, Joe. We are actually going out for a change. Since we can walk to things here in La Conner, don’t even need a designated driver…......(-:

Hi Jim,

Actually, it was found On the Street curb, one house up & across the street, no dumpster diving for this puppy; my back could not take it now… :) LOL

That Torsion bench sounds interesting… will continue to patiently wait for it’s time. :)

Very good on being in your Winter Wonderland in Washington! I just GOOGLED it… looks like a very nice place!
La Conner... a beautiful place! I think your place looks very close to that in the picture!

Have a GREAT New Years! We are NOT going out… I really doubt if I can stay awake that long! :)
We have Tacos every Tuesday… 3 for each of us… I asked wife what she had planned for dinner tonight…
She said “Del Taco” ... Tacos… as usual! :)

Thank you for the comment…

Well I didn’t see our house in any of the pictures, but the main picture is an older one of the Quilt Museum, which we support some. It is three blocks from our house. They have refurbished the exterior the last few years….....
Here is a link to some of that effort La Conner Quilt Museum Project it is now complete inside and out. The middle picture, with the flowers out front, is the repainted and refurbished picture. We have supported the building fund for the last few years. It is a beautiful old Victorian Mansion. La Conner never had a fire, so there are many old Victorian homes maintained here.

La Conner is a very small and special jewel in the emerald state of Washington.

You and your wife have a special evening, and we will too. We haven’t celebrated New Years for over 10 years, because I was usually on call….....

OK, Jim… Thank you!

Beings you now have Tenyear, you deserve to be able to celebrate New Years this time!
... be careful on that long walk home!

Have a Great New Years…

I have the breakfast in the frig… chilling before being Baked in the morning…

We’re going to enjoy a nice log on the fire, Rose Parade, good munchies, and FOOTBALL… with more munchies… probably gaining 5 lbs!

I am usually about getting ready to hit the sack about this time… Will stay up as long as my eyes cannot stay open… :)
