It sure seems I went on a bit of a binge, but this is the 3rd and final tool purchase for the foreseeable future. It wasn’t one I had planned on like the sander, it was one of necessity. You see my previous planer was a Delta 12 ½” factory reconditioned unit that I picked up for a song. It did yeoman’s work for close to 10 years. The next purchase was a Work Sharp 3000. Again, this was a Woodcraft special. I had read some reviews, including one by a respected furniture maker. He swore by it as not only effective, but fast in his “time is money” shop. Now, I have tried about every sharpening system known to man and had previously settled on the Norton water-stones as able to get a usable edge before my ADD kicked in. The problem was the mess and bother of water in the shop or of doing the sharpening in the kitchen...

I came into a little money horse trading some rough oak, so I decided to spend it picking up a couple of much needed tools. The first one is a Rikon 6”x48” Belt / 10” Disc sander. It was on sale at Woodcraft, $50 off. Even though Springfield is a bit of a hike, this weighs a ton, so shipping would have been eye-wateringly expensive. This tool filled a gap in my lineup.
