I have had several blogs before and they all get neglected over time. Will this one be different? Probably not. But we will see. I seemed to have sustained my commitment to regular shop time through most of a year and the output of my shop shows that I can get a fair bit done with regular hours. The output also makes my wife feel better about the time, space and money this hobby commands from our budget now that several of the things she has asked for have been completed. Guys, make something for her first, then make that cool whatever, you won’t be sorry.

Projects on the bench:
- 6 Stickley side tables (3 commissioned, 3 for me).
- a new workbench (top is done and on beams for now)

Recently completed:
- 2 wooden try squares after Moxon
- a(nother) cutting board after TWW (gift)
- a packing box for two computer cases (long story)
- 3 small jewelry boxes (mitered with accent keys in Yellowheart, Bloodwood and Butternut respectively)
- A panel and frame blanket chest in A&C style for my wife.

On the horizon:
- Trade show display for a machine and shipping crate for same (not FWW, but it pays)
- 2 setback shelving units in A&C style for a neighbor
- An entertainment unit in A&C style for the TV/Xbox/Wii/Cable/etc.

Wayne, it looks like you have been busy and I totally agree that the best way to keep your better half from complaining is to make something for her. Although mine tends to yell at me for “tracking sawdust in the house” even when I am making something for her. :)

How about posting some of the completed projects? They sound interesting. And seeing construction posts on workbenches always seem to generate a lot of interest in the blog. But I agree that blogs tend to get neglected over time. I think that it is due largely to the amount of material that is being posted here now. At one time I was able to keep up with all the blogs, forum posts, workshops and project posts. Now there simply is not enough time in the day to do so and after a week or so posts are simply buried under the avalanche of material.

But keep the posts coming. Any and all are appreciated.

One of the jewelry boxes is posted over in my projects page. Sadly, the other two got out of my hands before I remembered to document them. This weekend I am planning on setting up the lighting to take some photos of completed projects and I will post them early next week.

The workbench is a long term project of course. It will need to happen in stages as other things move through the shop, I will probably break that journey into several blog posts. Just getting to where I am has yielded a pretty lengthy post.
