This is the latest addition to my shop. a vintage Delta drill press Model 220. My father inlaw passed away recently and had a large woodworking shop. His son wanted me to have something of his to pass the woodworking tradition on. In his honor I saved the plywood packing and screws to make some shelving for the odds and ends that also came with the drill. (see fourth photo).

My shop is compact and highly organized otherwise I wouldn’t find anything. I have a Bosch table saw that I can fold and roll out of the way. Sanding organizer (photo 2) with other sanders on the shelf next to it. My router table is stored on the bottom shelf (photo 3) and is brought out onto a folding work table and clamped down.

All the shelving on the wall is on a hanging rail system so in the future if I need to move shelves, cabinets, etc. I just lift it off and move it to where I want.

The drill press is a nice addition to your shop, especially given the story behind it. I am sure that your FIL would be proud to have you using this tool to your shop. I have several of my father’s hand tools that he used during his working career as a carpenter. It always gives me immense satisfaction when I am using them to know that he also held and used these same tools when he was living.

Thanks for the picture. I am looking forward to seeing more of your shop.

Very, very nice drill press. I would luv to have that, it looks like he took excellent care of it. Don’t ever let that one go.

It looks like a piece of art. Quality like that will last forever. So much better than my $99 special Delta drill press from Home Depot.
