I've been working with wood since I was old enough to hold a paintbrush, but I've only just recently started doing what most people would call "woodworking". My Dad was a builder who really loved cabinetry. I grew up helping him with everything from trim work to framing to everything else. When I was finally old enough to use a jigsaw (like seven) I started cutting out toy guns to use to shoot the bad guys running rampant across our farm. We went to Africa and I built a few small boxes and other things out of teak and mahogany. Those were the two cheapest types of wood we could find! We trimmed out our house with teak and used mahogany planks for scaffolding. Kinda crazy now that I know what those boards would have cost stateside. I came back to the good old US of A when I was 18 and didn't do much wood working for a few years. Here lately I've gotten back into it though and decided I like making furniture. I've only done a couple of projects, and I'm a bit stubborn about designing things on my own. I also tend to try to do things that are beyond my skill level. As a result the things I make tend to have more than their share of flaws. Lumberjocks looks like a good place to learn though so I'm looking forward to hearing what people think!
