Night Stand
After recently purchasing a used Ridgid Planer, I went to the lumber yard and Purchased 30 board feet of poplar to officially start woodworking. The antisipation was building to start a project that I could consider to be fine furniture and be proud to showcase it in my home. the girlfriend was asking for a night stand, so I set off to build the first of two matching night stands.
The proportions are 14 1/2” wide, 12” deep and 26” tall. Assembled using Kreg pocket screws. The drawer guides are some plastic strips I had and dados in the side of the drawers. I modeled it loosly on a night stand I currently own that was built in the late 50’s, early 60’s that I refinished two years ago. I used General Finishes Java Gel Stain for the finish, and am letting it cure before I apply at least 2 coats of a Gloss Polyurethane and wax it. More photos of the finished project once I get the finished complete!

Glass is going to be in the door and as a shelf inside.

Nice night stand. I purchased a Kreg jig a few days ago and will start a night stand today.

Just applied the first coat of Polyurethane to the night stand. Still haven’t gotten the glass for it yet. I stopped by the local HD today to see if they had any soft close dampers for the door, but they’re special order…Think I might finally give the Lee Valley catalog a try. Will see. Busy weekend coming up, so probably no wood working for me for several days.
