Hi, been woodworking for about 28 years or so, mostly for myself, but lately more as a second job. I have finished the cradles for my grandkids, so I have time to clear a path in my shop!

Nice job on the cradles. Was the curved cradle tougher to make ?

Vin: Did you make the spindles or purchase them or did you use dowells?

Thanks Bill, Yes the maple cradle with the curved sides was a head scratcher! It was all the angles on a radius, kinda like spokes on a wagon wheel.

To answer Karson’s questions, the spindles are just simple birch dowels. The matched the maple very nicely and they were a whole lot cheaper than buying maple dowels. I’m not very good at the lathe to turn my own!

Thanks Max, the cradle I made for my son 12 yrs ago has surrvived three girls, and he lends it out to his friends, it has seen alot of use, so i’m hopeing these will do ok, maybe hold some great grandchildren.

Thanks Dick, I’m a slob when I’m working, you can see that from the pics. It usually takes me a week to find all my tools after a project!
