Floating table top, lesson in joinery

Here is a table that started out as a lesson in joinery. My plan was to cut up the table and throw it in the trash when complete.
It is made from madrone which is very hard and splits easily. I filled the splits with epoxy and sanded them smooth. I decided to make the top with the live edge boards to kinda combine the new style look of the legs and floating style top with a rustic look. It is all mortise and tenon joinery and I finished it with amber shellac.
The wife likes it so much I have to build another and a coffe table to match.

This is my retirement shadow box. I made it from teak with a coat of BLO and then 4 coats of hand applied amber shellac. I used a khaki shirt for the awards background since I retired a Chief. The carrier design is because I served on 3 carriers.

First box on Incra LS, humidor for my brother

So my brother wanted a humidor with his companies logo on it. I have never made a humidor so it was a learning experience for me, and a great chance to use my Incra jig to make some fancy joints. The box is made of ash with walnut Eagle Tail joints. The company logo is from bubinga and the hinges are made from walnut and pegged with ash. Please leave honest feed back. Oh and I know I still need the humidifier and the hygrometer. The lid has a perfect seal when you let it shut it makes the “shwooosh” sound and slowly closes the last bit.
