Well, my bookcase is nearing completion. I’m pleased with most of it thus far. This was my first go round with hand cutting all the mortise and tenon joints and they are all fairly decent. My hand tool skill and knowledge is really improving thanks to The Hand Tool School by Shannon Rogers.
Sadly, my basement is a tad cool and the stain didn’t dry over night. So in went the portable heater all day to help the drying process along. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be applying the arm r seal.
In between coats of finish, I have been working on my roubo style workbench. Milling the top was quite a feat. I have four sections of four boards glued ip for the top and the first two sections are now together. It’s really looking nice. I decided to stay with southern yellow pine. That way, if I really screwed things up, it wouldn’t be as big a deal as if I’d have used quarter sawn oak or ash.
