Part 1: Working on my daughter's birthday gift

This has been long in the planning with many ups and downs. It is still not finished though her birthday is the 21st of Feb; I will be late with this, but make it as perfect as I can. I don’t have that much free time to blast off a whole weekend at it in the shop so it has been months in the works.Have had to buy some new tools, big and small and stop myself from buying some others and just use some elbow grease and ingenuity. Part 2: time ticks on

Moved a couple steps closer to the finish line over the weekend. My push list includes:1.Make a back with inlay heart2. Final sand everything so no tool marks3. Devise arm, foot and face attachments4. Stain and varnish5. Clock parts attached For the back I tried to find purpleheart veneer as I wanted to put it over MDF…. it was $85.00 for a roll, so Itried to make the veneer myself. Part 3: tic tic tic

The list is getting shorter #1 back is done, acrylic heart glued into place #2 sanding and final scrape done….tired of it, not perfect but enough sanding already!! #3 made small brass inserts out of nails like I did with the arms by hammering in the nail, cutting the head off and sharpening it with a file.
