Dust Collection Question - 22 replies

Maybe this is a stupid question that has been answered over and over but I can’t find a logical answer. If one adds a chip separator (typical hf 2hp dust collector setup), why in the world do you STILL need a collection bag? It seems to me that it already HAS a chip separator as the chips fall into the plastic bag. Would someone please ...

My early birthday present is the Incra 1000hd ($119 at Rockler in a week. Talked the store into selling at the upcoming sale price since we drove 2 hours to get there). My confusion is with the telescoping extension and it’s scale. I’ve set it up EXACTLY according to the instructions (mounted the stop on the 4” extension and...

Woodshop Disaster Today. - 119 replies

Having just finished clamping up some hard maple and purple 4/4 into 8/4 blanks, it was time to go run errands.Went to start my truck to warm it up. Did the same thing I’ve done hundreds of times. Opened door, stood on right foot, left leg pushing clutch in, turned key. We live in flat land so I leave it in gear (manual f150). However, it ...

HF Dust Collector - 4 replies

No pictures. Just me saying wow. Just used my new HF dust collector with tablesaw and MDF. Holy cow. What a difference. Of course I covered the back of the Jet Contractor saw which certainly improved the dust collection. I’m really impressed as to how little dust was left on the table saw! Impressive. (It is understood that those who ha...

My Turn for a Craigslist find - 6 replies

Asking $300. $240 out the door. May not be an all time cheapest find by any means but it is making a GREAT birthday present. Used but it seems just barely. No snipe that I can tell. MUCH better than my beat up old delta that really needs restored. Repeat A Cut was within 1/64th of an inch for the 3/4 Red Oak I milled up today. WooHOO. ...

Kids - 21 replies

My little one is itching to “Help Dad” in the shop. New territory for me. Looking for examples of what others allow young ones (6 years old) to do in your shops? I don’t want to regulate her to broom duty. She is already excited to be drilling pocket holes but I’m not sure what else to let her do. At this point, there...

Oldham Woodworking Wizard Mitre Box Saw? Should it be used in my tablesaw? - 2 replies

I don’t know if this blade would be useful or even safe in my table saw. I can’t seem to find any information about it online. It was provided when I purchased the 10” Jet Contractor saw along with several circular saw blades. Any information would be appreciated. Sorry for the rotated image. Not sure how to fix that and I am l...
