Hey everybody, I am 46 years old, I work as the information security officer for a software development company. I have always had a passion for woodworking, but in the early years it was overshadowed by my love of being a mechanic. I worked as a mechanic for 23 years (started professionally when I was 16), after getting all beat up being a mechanic, I decided I needed to change jobs and take on something not so strenuous, so I made the mistake of going into the computer world. I put on about 30 pounds and now my eyesight isn't what it used to be. So much for less strnuous!
My wife of 10 years has managed to build me a new house on some acreage, with a nice new 30' by 40' workshop. I just hope someday I will have enough time to finish the inside. I imagine after we finish renovating our old house, I will have time (And money) to properly insulate and board up the interior. But I am thankfull for what I have.
My wife affords me the time to actually go into the shop and make tiny pieces of wood out of large pieces, so I don't complain too much.
I have always been handy around the house, I don't hire out anything, so when we tackled a remodle of our old kitchen, I built all the cabinetry myself, as well as all the plumbing, electrical and flooring. I can't wait to get back to making furniture to make the inside of our new house look good.
I hope you enjoy yourself on the site, cheers!
