I have a small woodworking shop located in the Galena hill country, close to Elizabeth, Illinois. I have forty years of woodworking experience and have learned from every one of my mistakes.
Woodwizard is kind of like my alter-ego. He plagues my work with mistakes, rusts my tools, injures me when I'm in a hurry, and causes all kinds of frusteration when I'm trying to get something cool done. But what are you gonna do? I guess I'll just hit him in the head with a hammer, then take a couple of aspirins.
I have a wonderful wife, "Barb" and two great kids, a boy and a girl. Emily and Aaron. A dog, Nikki.
My major shop-tool, is a Legacy Ornamental Mill, model 1800. It's a router-based work center that can turn up to 11 inch diameter columns(8 feet long). Right and left hand twists and adjustible taper. I've had the machine for about three years now and have created numerous attachments for it. It's a complicated machine and I've learned a-lot over three years of ownsership.
So if your contemplating adding this piece of machinary to your shop, I may be able to share my experience with you.
Happy woodworking!

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Welcome Mate!! You live near my old stopping grounds I grew up in Dubuque,IA but spent many days In and around Galena doing many different things. Other than It being a huge tourist draw of Chicago folks the architecture of the old building is magnificent. I like the stair project reminds me of a book I read once called the Phantom Tollbooth.

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself just about 2 years ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…
I apologize for the late welcome but I am currently serving overseas and don’t have a lot of spare time on my hands.
Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…
