finally some satisfaction... however! - 3 replies First off.. Thanks to all that gave me guidance on sharpening… I polished the backs of my chisels and plane irons and its tons better… could use one more grit to really get it scary sharp but …. Satisfaction….I built a mallet over the weekend and it tuned out great! I know it turned out great because I used it to chise... |

plane jane iron issues - 5 replies Went out today and completed my shopping list for hand cut joinery! Figured since I was sharpening my chisels that I would sharpen my plane irons… Well… I just cant get them sharp enough!!! They are all used/new to me planes and the plane irons don’t appear to be as thick as say a Hock iron. Would it be best to just scrap them ... |

What are the rules? - 6 replies I am a newbie to this woodworking thing. At least regarding the fine woodworking part.. Lots of construction background…. anyway.
