All About Me

I am a 25 year old guy born and raised in sunny southern California. I am what you could call a geek I suppose, I enjoy a vast array of things including Listening to music {mainly country,} TV {House, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy,} Computers {Programming, Web/Graphic Design, etc.,} Photography, Pool, Late Night Bowling, and cooking for my sweety.

About My Family

I am currently in a relationship with the most beautiful and loving girl I've ever met. We met in high school where we were both in the trumpet section of our school's marching band, at which time, we were both in relationships with other people. We have been together for almost two years now and look forward to many more happy years in the future. We had our first child Austin Parker Doering on April 27, 2007! He weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 19.5 inches long at birth. He is absolutely beautiful!

About My Job

I am a Systems Administrator for one of the largest Homeowners' Association Management firms in the U.S. servicing over 3.2 million home owners nation wide. Previously, I was the Systems Administrator for the Burbank, CA Technical Operations Center of CaptionMax, a leading provider of closed captioning and subtitling for film and T.V. Shortly before that I served as V.P. of Information Technology for a credit card processing company. Prior to that I owned and operated a small recording studio in Arcadia, CA where I produced and engineered projects from band demos to full production albums for commercial release.

About My Woodworking

In middle school by far my favorite class was always woodshop, one of the few places where you actually got to create something... Now I enjoy art as much as the next person... but there's just something about creating a useful tangible object that sets woodworking far and above. Being young and not having the resources to set-up a shop, I stopped woodworking in highschool. 7 years later, my girlfriends dad bought me my first set of power tools(a Craftsman C3 set with: Drill Motor, Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Random Orbit Sander, and of course, what boxed tool set would be complete without the ubiquitous Fluorescent light and dustbuster...) Finally! something I can build something with!! My first new project was a shelf for our living room(See: Projects) It was constructed with 1x8 Poplar with a surprisingly attractive grain pattern. My current project is a workbench built with 4x4, 2x6, and 2x4 construction lumber, topped by a 36"x80" solid core maple veneered door panel(picked up from the local big box) which I intend to cover with 4/4 rock maple strips glued up to width, and then surrounded by either 8/4 maple or red oak for the apron.

About AwlFreePlans.com

RJ of R Jones Wood Working, LLC came up with the idea of an online plan website dedicated to sharing free, highly detailed plans with material/cut lists and dimensioned drawings. About a year after it's inception, RJ felt he no longer had the time to dedicate to AwlFreePlans.com that he felt it deserved. Not wanting to see this site fade off in to history, I picked it up where he left off. I will be continually maintaining, improving, and enhancing the site and it's contents to help make it become the best source of free online plans. Stay Tuned :-)

-- With God's help all things are possible- even woodworking. Woodworking is not just a hobby, it is an (expletive deleted) expensive hobby.
