The first boat I ever built was Payson’s ”Nymph”, a delightful little pram. I built it of underlayment and fiberglass as per the article (from the late lamented Small Boat Journal) in 1987. I still have the boat and used it last year. It sits behind my garage. WoodenBoat had a series on buliding that catboat which is slightly different from the book. Check out their site to find what issues it was in; you may be able to get the back issues. My avatar shows a 17’ John Leather designed sloop I built in 1994 from scratch; that technique was glued-lapstrake which i how I have built ten boats. I sold her last summer to an English gentleman who is having a wonderful time with her. I have the plans for #11, a lovely 14’6” sloop named ”Swallow” by Andrew Wolstenholme of England which I should start as soon as a personal issue gets off my plate. Let me know (preferably by e-mail) if I can be of any assistance in your endeavor. It’s wood; it’s water – can it get any better?

My goal is to first build one or two of the simpler boats to get some experience and finally build the little catboat. I LOVE CATBOATS! When I get started I am sure I could use some help, and I will post some projects when I get started. Thanks guys.
