Topic tags/keywords: question bandsaw

I am in the market for a 10” benchtop bandsaw.

Anyone had recommendations based on experience…

Get the cheapest one you can find on CL… just stay away from the Ryobi and anything with three wheels.

Cheers,

Rikon 10-305 10” or the Rikon made Craftsman 22400 10” are a pretty good bang for the buck in a small BS in the $200 range. These at least have solid cast tables. Most of the other small bandsaws have plastic housings and cheap aluminum tables, which all lead to more vibration.

I bought the Rikon 10” early this year when it was on sale for $189 and am quite happy with it. I have a big Jet for resaw and thick wood. The Rikon does a good job on smaller jobs but not very good for resaw.

Craftsman/rikon. A well seasoned woodworker that I know bought one and he is very happy with it. I bought a ryobi a couple years ago and have regretted it since.

thanks everyone for the input…

If you have the choice Rikon or Craftsman.. Rikon diff in pricing of about $60 and warranty of 5 yrs vs. the craftsman is only 1 yr. warranty…

what will be your choice… given everything else is equal…

I’ve had the craftsman for about 2 years now and haven’t had any trouble with it. After having mine I compared it to a Rikon in Woodcraft and can’t find any noticeable differences.

Have your say...
